Gum or gingival recession can result from number of different causes which include patients with thinner tissue, aggressive toothbrushing habits, trauma and a history of periodontal disease.

 

Once the gum line recedes, the root surface is exposed which increases the risk for cavities and root sensitivity. 

 

Soft tissue grafting increases root coverage and re-establishes a healthy firm pink gum tissue around your teeth. Donor tissue can be obtained either from the roof of the mouth or a donor connective tissue bank.
